What is an easy way to tell the difference between a 26/27 roadster deck from the other years. I have some leads but they do not know what they have and no photo. Thanks
The deck lid on a 26-7 turtle is curved. All others have flat lids.
26-7 Turtle rear panels have mounting provisions for the spare tire carrier.
The sides are indented for the direct mount of the fenders.
If you have a chance look on Minneapolis craigslist under 1926 roadster, is this the correct turtle deck for this car? Thanks
Correction 1920's roadster
It would be much simpler if YOU provided the link.
1917-22
Levers are flat steel. Previous levers were round steel
1923-25
Lock appears. Levers disappear. Larger opening.
1926-27
Whole new look. As Tom indicates.
I looked in Minneapolis and saw a 26 roadster pickup body and no turtle.
I believe it's a pickup because I don't see any evidence of mounting holes for a trunk. That's not to say that a trunk couldn't be fitted.

Todd,
I looked at the ad again. What he's selling appears to be the front half of a 26 roadster body. What's missing is the rear body rails which go way back about a foot behind the rear frame crossmember. So this body has been cut up regardless of whether it started life as a pickup or a runabout.
If you search the forum, there are dozens of photos of these bodies being disassembled or painting. For instance http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/50893/69620.html?1224335725
Tom,
Were the bodys the same for a truck compared to a roadster with the exception of the mounting holes? What I am planning is to put together a correct 26/27 T roadster. Thanks
Yes the roadster pickup and runabout are identical for your purpose.
