I was sitting at work today, working on acquiring a Buick 24-35, and when I was thinking about the rebuild, I wondered to myself whether or not Stutzmans ships just spokes, or do you have to send them the wheel to be rebuilt. Does anyone know?
Might be a bit hard for them as they would need the old spokes to match up.... Its just my suggertion,,, send them your wheels and have them done,,,, They are very cheap on price and do a wonderful job. I had my Smith wheel done by them last year and it only cost $150.00 and thoes were 2 inch spokes plus the new fellow. I just sent them a check for $857.00 for the four model T wheels I had done and that included shipping. I'm guessing the shipping was around $150.00 alone. You really cant go wrong with them.
I believe the stock wheels on that car are demountables with steel felloes, so you can install the spokes yourself IF you can get them. Stutzman does great work if you have him do it, and if you do the job yourself his spokes are excellent. Spokes for a T are easy because he's made a jillion of them. A 1924 Buick being a lot less common, he might not have the pattern, in which case I assume he'd want your old spokes for a reference. So the bottom line is yes, he does ship just spokes for Model T, but you'll have to ask him if the same applies to your Buick touring.
Rob,
I visited the Stutzman Wheel Shop last year to collect 50 T spokes they had made for me. I was able to have a look over his shop and see the extraordinary range of products they are capable of producing.
He has patterns for a number of different spokes, so yours might be among them.
If you need to know whether you can get individual spokes and comparative costings (spokes vs complete wheels), give him a call on 303 897 1391. You'll have to leave a message but he will return your call.
