Dairy Queens are fairly common in Texas.
This must been an early advertising venture in a parade. This may have been in an earlier post. DQ model t

The identical photo hangs on the wall at the DQ in Stevens Point, WI.
It must be distributed through the entire chain.

Mather of Americus was a furniture store in Americus, Georgia. The first Dairy Queen opened in 1940, but the clothes and hair styles in this picture shout "Fifties!"

It's NOT a 13. And yes the photo is post 1940.

Is the car advertising Dairy Queen or is that the Dairy Queen in the back seat from the local fair?

The lettering is in the style of the original Dairy Queen lettering font-wise, but not sign-wise.

DQ's are common in Texas because there are more in Texas than any other state.

I worked at two of Hamby's Dairy Queen stores in San Antonio, TX way back during my High School days. We made the first "Buster Bars" in San Antonio at the Broadway Rd. outlet. We also made Dilly Bars there for Hamby's other outlets. Great place to work during the Summer. Always cool and plenty of "chicks". :-)

The first DQ and the ones with the first Buster bars don't hold a candle when you consider that the Dairy Queen on Division Street in St Cloud MN has the most walk-up window traffic of any DQ in the Universe. They don't have any fancy dining room and they're a very old DQ and they have better food than anyone and they are the best. Now does anyone want to argue that?

Nope. The DQs around here are so far off base as to what they were when I was a kid, I don't shop there anymore.

The older DQ's in this area dont have the different period photos in the store like the newer ones.
The store that this pic is hanging in was a new remodeled store that reopened about 2-3 years ago.
There is another one here in town that closed and later reopened as a drive-thru drugstore.

DQ's are fine, but if you are in Pierre stop at our Zesto's. It's a small chain but the previous owner came up with a bunch of scrumptious ice cream and frozen yogert snacks that keeps 2 lines 15+ feet long in front of the windows all summer. You might even see a 23 Touring parked there some summer evening!mmmmmmmmm :-)
