Has anyone ever machined a pre 25 drum to take take the 26/27 clips? I have a good drum other then the lugs are all grooved up. Any ideas? Dan
I have, but it doesn't work too well because of the bolt holes. Makes it too weak. The 26-7's had the lugs separate from the bolt holes.
does anybody make a new small brake drum with the machined lugs?
Noel
We have them, Bob
Thanks Tom, that was info I was looking for. I will not waste time with it. Dan

Cut down a 26 drum to the narrow width, presto, a narrow drum with clips on the lugs.
I think that just before the wide brake drum came out in later 1925 some narrow brake drums had lugs. I am surprised that the later made replacement narrow brake drum didn't come that way, or it was because the hole placement made the drum too weak. Does the new narrow drum that uses the lugs also use the 26-27 drive plate/tail-shaft assembly? The one thing about using the wide drum is it uses the whole surface of the drum when cut down, not the drum and edge of the drive plate.
