Anyone have a set that they will part with.
Bob

I made my own about 40 years ago using tire chain repair supplies. Easy to do.

I was at Bob's Antique in Rockford yesterday,
Hey Bob B, in the second shed, at the bottom of a shelf I thought I saw tire chains in a cloth bag!
Bob, Check with Bill bender I remember Stan had some at one point.
Went to look for a part in my cash last night and guess what I found, Thanks mike I remember that Stan gave me a pair a few years ago. I found them under all the crap I have, it's so well organized. Wonder what all might be out there. ( Old means forgetful ?????)
Tanks for all your help.
Bob
My grandfather always used a 1 inch diameter grass rope laced it through the spokes and over the tire, he said they work great !
I guess the up side to a grass rope would be when they get loose they won't rip your rear fender off.....
I use snow blower chains, 1 set (2chains) fit nicely on one 30 x 3 1/2 Tire. I don't know the size of the snow blower tire. I bought 2 sets at a flea market.
The chains are on a stripped running chassis that I have to start and move occasionally in the winter to access some other toys.
It's amazing how effective the chains are.
Organized?? I have heard that word before but not sure what it means. Stan sure knew and tried hard to make me understand. I still have the bolt bin he gave me and the 3 5gallon buckets of T bolts to fill it with! I miss that guy.
I have one still on a wheel.
Bob Did you find any chains yet?
Brendan
Yes, I found them in my (oh well) very disorganized stash of parts. Forgot I had them.
Thanks for all the replies and comments
Bob
And now that I moved above the snow belt, I need to find a set for my car, before the winter sets in! Any other leads? ;)
Susanne
where in N. cal. are you? There are chains out there on some ones shelf and they have forgotten that they are there. Hope they will look and give you a shout. You will now need to find a snow unit kit to use. That will open the eyes of the modern snow travel boys.
Good luck.
Bob
I will look if you still need them let me know,Bob
Robert B
Please look (and others also) I found a pair for mine but Susanne could use them. Thanks for the note and taking the time to look.
Bob
If I recall correctly, an old common standard 15 inch modern tire set of chains will fit on a model T tire. The only real problem is, that the pieces that go across the tire tread are a bit few and far between. What I did years ago, was buy two old sets and a tire chain repair tool. The tool opened the links and I moved them from the extra set and added them into the set I still have.
Just my little "if I can't find it or afford it, make it" attitude suggestion.
I also wonder where in the great (big) state of Northern Califunny you are. We need to have a really good Northern Foothills model T snow get-together. I know Terry H knows several people that would be interested.

I'm up north near Lassen, off 44. I suspect up here, in one of these old barns, there is likely a snowbird kit waiting for me... --grins-- (One can always wish big, eh??)
On a somewhat unrelated note, I looked at a pile of rusty bits left by the former owners, and pulled out something that looked remarkably like a 20's front motor mount. Now all I need is to find the rest of the car!
And yes, I still need a set... unfortunately, I'm not in Hershey to look at the goodies there (tho I did see an awfully tasty looking pair of HCCT's in another post here! --grins--)... I'd love the idea of a freezer burn tour. (I remember seeing pix of my dad going on the annual winter "stag tours" in the sierra foothills - one in particular of someone being thrown into a frozen-over swimming pool... -giggles- )
