I'm looking for an inexpensive hood for my Rat-Rod TT project. I've been offered several pristine pieces but they are valued higher than my project requires. Would anyone have a High Hood (24-25)in OK to fair condition?

I'm pretty sure John Danuser will be chiming in soon.......I think he might be on the road.......unless Model T Haven beats him to the punch.

Well John, Seems we're in the same boat as far as our T's. Your's listed as "Pile of Parts" I bought a "Lot" of parts a couple weeks ago and there are several hoods. Right now I couldn't tell a high from a low. If you or someone here could supply me with measurement's I'll check it against what I have. I'm afraid that no matter what we agree on as far as price the shipping might get in the way. I can do UPS from work and most times it's not to bad.

Scott compare yours to the drawing below. I just sold a 26-27 hood and shipped it to Oregon from NY for $30. Not too bad. Thanks for checking through your pile!

Looks like the up loader does not like bitmap images. The link below is to Lang's catalog. It's the same image I was presenting.

T-Haven doesn't have a usable hood at this time.....

Scott the hood will have 6 louvers. The two in your photo are 26-27 hoods.

That link shows my exact hood on my 26-7 TT. Its in passable but needing work shape, there is a tear in the sheet metal in a few spots but its not rusty.

To repair this I was thinking of just using my MIG set low and then grinding the welds down. But this is going to be a fair amount of effort.

Scott, how much for a hood that matches the measurements shown on the link John has above? Do you have one that is physically in good shape w/o hinge issues and tears?

John, just curious, the engine compartment for the T is going to be tight if you are using a v8 in your rat rod and want to close the hood. Are you sure you would even be able to use the hood? What motor are you running? I know a lot of people have stuffed v8's in Ts since beginning of time but I can't remember one with the whole hood attached.

Scott my rat rod will be T powered. I am using that term to describe my intent in final finish as opposed to it being a show queen. A hood is definitely part of the final design.

I think both Langs and Macs, maybe Snyders too have the Spec's in their respective catalouges...

Ok John, This is what I have. One pair of sides. As you had already noticed I have the 2 later hoods, I have a complete brass era hood, and 2 sets of tops that I've been told are not T. They have a raised bead almost the full length of the side about 2 inches above the hinge for the side panels?? Anyway I took photos of what I've got, Measurements match what you're looking for. The hold down areas are not worn through and all but one of the louvers is straight, the one that's not is slightly pushed in.They are not perfect, but I believe perfectly fixable.

Scott thank you for taking the time to measure and post the pictures. I would like to find a complete hood, but will keep these pieces in mind.

I looked on my shelf and I have the top two pieces, but no sides...... Not sure of the year.... I'd measure it if you're interested. I'm north of Green Bay Wi. (The price would be "right!")

And so the search is on for a complete hood once again.

Shipping costs are cost prohibitive to put together an inexpensive hood. Thank you to Scott and Joe for taking the time to dig out the pieces and work out costs. You are both MTFCA gentleman!
