Perfect weather for the New London to New Brighton Antique Car Run. I joined Rob and the rest for the Friday tour. Rob has been too busy to post anything yet. He has had some gas filtering issues but it looks like he had them worked out by noon.
When we stopped for ice cream floats, he invited me across the street with his buddies for a Early Ford Register Meeting. After a couple rounds of refreshments, I realized there was no meeting and I wasn't going to get any floats!
We did line up the PA and K for comparison. I would love to own either one...or both of them. I need to get ready to drive my T up to Kingston where the old cars stop for a rest stop. I sure hope to see him drive up. Maybe I can get a picture of his riding mechanic.
That is one gorgeous pair o' autos.
Nice looking 48 HP Pierce too.
Grandpa will be down to kingston with his T but I will not be able to make it this year

The Pierce Arrow belonged to the well known Sidney Strong, who was instrumental in the founding of the Minnesota Region of the AACA.
You may have seen it when you were kid when you were still in Minnesota. However, back then it was painted green (kind of metallic) and it had a lighter top.
lots of Fords
I love it, a tour where a Pierce Arrow and a Model T are the "Modern Iron"!

I can now report that the big K is running well and arrived in Kingston this morning.
This is another T that showed up during the pre-run. This one is owned by Norm Aune of Brainerd, Mn.
Archie Wohlfahrt, New Braunfels, Texas brought this wonderful 1910 Auborn, 2 cylinder. He was running well yet in Kingston!
1907 Stevens Duryea from Golden, Colo. Owner Conrad Fletcher purchased the big 6 cylinder car from the Harrah Collection.
One more....
No that is a fine collection of automobiles!!!!!
Sorry meant to say "Now"
George,
Funny. I read what you meant. Not what you wrote.
That is an incredible meet. It is on my list to have to attend before many more years pass. How late can model Ts be for it? And what was the earliest car?
I must mention that Rob's K is gorgeous!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Wayne,
Cars 1915 and earlier may run on the pre tours Wed thru Friday. Usually three or four Ts make a few pre tours. This year Lance had the Pierce on Friday.
The main Sat 120 mile tour requires a 1908 or earlier car (more than 2 cylinders) or 1 & 2 cyl cars 1915 or earlier.
This was my fifth NL to NB tour. Great tour and well planned.
Rob
This is a great tour to watch at any of several stops that the old cars make. But, the real opportunity for us wannabes that only own Model Ts, comes in the pre tours that Ed Walhoff organizes for several days leading up to the main event. These tours let us tour with these wonderfully unique pre T autos. I've been doing the pre tours in my '14 for several years and I'll continue until I own a car that can drive on the full run.

Apparently I still haven't figured out how to upload photos from my Ipad. Oh well.
Eric, you are so right. Where can a person see 58 pre 1908 cars running and driving? Plus the opportunity to talk to the owners or see them adjust something.
The rule for the pre tour is for 1916 or older, according to my information. The celebration at the end of the event in New Brighton is fun to.
I've heard that Pierces sold in New York had drum headlights because state law required them. True?
Steve, yes...and I hope I'm right! I believe you could buy the car either way if you wanted to. Now I'm going to get it! I only play a PA owner on the internet.
