I grew up reading Archie comics. It wasn't until I was in my 30s that I learned that it was a Model T that Archie drove in the comics. (Later a 60s vintage Mustang)

My neighbor's cat decided to help me get ready for the car show tomorrow.

His name is "Archie". Hard to see in the pic but he is mostly orange on the top side, like Archie's hair in the comics.

Archie's a cool dude. He hangs out a lot by the pond in my back yard watching the fish.

I'm pretty sure he's just being neighborly...grin..

"Duffy's Tavern, where the elite meet to eat! Archie the manager speakin', Duffy ain't here." I'll bet Archie drove a T in his youth.

Actually the comic was called "Archie and Me"...grin...I think they are still publishing it in some parts of the world..

Archie and Me is no longer in publication. Hasn't been for 25 years.....There are only about 20 Archie Comics Group titles in current publication. Sadly, Archie & Me isn't one of them. The current publication schedule would include "Sonic The Hedgehog" too, since it's owned by Archie Comics Group.

I collected comics for 37 years: 1940's to the present. Sold all but 300 of them to pay for finishing my Model T.

Danial, our orange/white cat is also fond of lounging on the T. If I only had a dollar for each kitty paw print I have washed off that car...... Gotta love the cat that fancies a model T though.

See if Archie will stay there for the trip to the show and pose for the people at the show.

P.S. what car show is it?

Let us know how it goes.

Maybe you could get a picture of Archie on a front fender with the hood up looking at the engine contemplatively?

This is how I remember "Starchie". I never went back after this. Just wasn't the same. (actually this was a heck of a lot better)!

Erich, the car show was a lot of fun. It's a small town so I knew a lot of the participants and people coming by to view all the cars.

I got there pretty early and happened to get an end row spot near the entrance which was awesome. Making it even better, a friend of mine, who had already told me wasn't going to be in this show, changed his mind and his car (67 COPO Corvette) was placed next to mine.

It wasn't without some grumblings among the participants, however. The classes seemed goofy to most of us. The only class my T fit in was "All Fords - Stock". So I was competing with Ford products from all years, not just the antiques. A 55 T-Bird won that class.

It was nice to see one of the participants, Jim Kirk, a guy who had posted the progress on his Model T pick-up on here last year, win "Best 2-Wheel Drive Pick-up".

The principal of the local high school stopped by and we had a nice, long chat. Afterward he asked if I would be interested in bringing the MOdel T to their auto-shop class and make a presentation and maybe give a few demonstration rides around the school track. I told him, I'd love to do that.

It was a small show with there being about 50-60 cars as a guess.

ANd after all that, I came home mighty sun-burnt....

This pic was taken about 8:00 this morning while everyone while everyone was still getting placed and setting up. I was there by 7:30.

Ha! Archie Bunker would have been great in the same comic as Starchie....

Oh, forgot to mention, it was the "Falcon Country Classic" for the Elmira Booster Club.

When I was a kid, Archie comics were twelve cents. Actually, when I first started buying them, they were ten cents.
Congratulations on your car show!
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2

How many guys looked at the engine?

All of them, I think...grin...There were four Ts in the field. Mine was the only "stock" one. Although Jim Kirk's still had a T motor in his.

A T with the hood open may not be a "babe magnet" but it sure attracts middle aged + men......

And the occasional gal. Love the stories some older folks have told me on such occasions.

More ladies commented favorably on my sign though, than did the men.

The last bullet point in big, bold letters (all caps) is "PLEASE TOUCH".

The ladies thought that was great. The guys mostly thought I was crazy. Especially some of the other participants.

Thanks Wayne!

I collected comics for years. I had a number of Archies going back to the late 1940s. (PEP Comics)

AT 49, if I spot a copy in a second hand store, I still pick them up and read them. (My dirty little secret, I suppose..grin)
