I have been told that some people use brass washers rather than the fiber type in the differential assembly. My spider assembly is early, 1914, and has bronze bushing's pressed in the three spider,(pinion gears), and the center hole of the spider. I have not been successful with locating brass washers however I have found "Bronze Thrush Washers" that are the proper size. Could the Bronze Thrust Washers be used as a substitution for the brass washers? I would appreciate your opinion as this is the first model T Ford differential that I have rebuilt. Thanks, John Van Cott
G'day John,
I think that you will find that brass has been typed instead of bronze for these parts. Bronze is the material of choice for bearings.

Regarding the use of bronze thrust washers, my question is regarding the use of the bronze thrust washers for "axle spacer washers" rather than using brass or fiber. Sorry for the confusion. Thanks, John Van Cott
If you're referring to the #2506 washer that fits between the ends of the axle shafts, I think bronze is fine. It should last better than the usual fiber version.
