Guys: I have gotten some ledgers from an old Ford dealer that was in Sheffield Al. The one I have been looking at tonight starts in 1925 and goes to 1929. It has new cars sales and used car sales. Shows the car, the engine number , price, any items added and what was taken in on trade. There were some things that were interesting, like a truck Ruckstell was 79.50 while a jumbo transmission was 125.00 and 6.00 labor to install. The jumbo went in Truck chassis #14,046,576 sold to the Jackson Saw mill Co on 9/06/26. Dan
I turned a few pages and you can see what happened in late 27 going into 28. They sold the last T on 6/30/27. The only thing sold the rest of 27 was a tractor on 12/21/27. Then in 28 they sold two tractors in Jan. Then nothing till 3/23/28 when they sold their first Model A, a Tudor engine # 36,861 with a tire a tube for $608.00. That shows that the plant was down for a long time when they changed over to the A. Dan
Fascinating insight. Good score there, Dan.
