What did you find caused the knock?
Norm
Norm: It was a bad wrist pin. Strange as it may sound it was a rebuilt engine by an outfit in New York. Wrist pin binding bolt was not set correctly and it caused a wear pattern. I took the Depot Hack for a short run today and ran great, NO KNOCK. Have a few oil spots that I have to get taken care of HOPEFULLY. The foot brake has a bit of adjusting. The starter is lazy with a charged battery so may have to ad a second ground cable. Have another starter being serviced so my use it instead. Still hand cranks good and runs on Mag.

What kind of band linings did you use? I have 2 T's with Kevlar and the starters turn over the engine very well with 6 volts. The 3rd T has wood band linings. That engine has always been harder to turn over and the battery must be completely charged to make it turn over slowly. It even turns a little harder with the hand crank. But that car is faster than the other two and does not creep forward in neutral. I tried switching the starters between the two cars it made no difference. I have a ground cable from the bolt which holds the starter to the bolt that holds the brake cross shaft and I have a copper strap type ground at the battery. Anyway, it might be the wood bands that makes the difference? Don't know. I'm glad you got the knock fixed.
