Not burning as in fire but...

Hauling an enclosed car (coupe) at 55-60 mph on an open trailer, what trouble I'm I going to have regarding the fabric top? Lets add this also. My coupe, one window does not roll up.

What about the front visor?

Is there any precautions I can take to assure the top is not hurt? Thank you.

Put it on the trailer backwards less wind drag and cover it with a tarp. Just my opinion

Wrap the upper part with stretch wrap, it will keep the dirt, bugs etc off, and put it on backward.

Anything you put on it will cut into the paint and do damage. I would fix the window and drive slower.

I drove from Nebraska to California with my newly purchased '27 Tudor on a open uhaul trailer back in Nov. 2010.At times I went well above the 55-60 you are proposing and had absolutely no problems.Didn't remove the hood, didn't remove the visor, didn't secure the floorboards and didn't wrap or cover any part of the car. Also didn't put it on backwards as you want it on forward for tongue weight.Did cover it over night to keep the curious away.

I've hauled many a fabric topped closed car on an open trailer at 65-70 mph- traffic & road conditions allowing. Open cars I would put the top down and secure it with the top straps.

Like George, I didn't remove anything and never had any trouble.

One of my customers hauled a '36 Ford on an open trailer from KY to FL. We all advised him not to put a cover on the car while in transport. He did anyways. It wasn't pretty when he got home.

DO NOT cover the car with a tarp. It'll beat the heck of of the top and paint. Make sure you have at least 10% of the weight on the tongue. I made a snug fitting, waterproof "bra" that covers the top half of the vehicle and have logged many thousands of miles with my Fordor on an open trailer. The wind deflector is riding on thick sponge rubber (and the hood is less than perfect).

I've hauled this several thousand miles. I had some extra vinyl that an upholsterer made into the cover shown here. I removed the visor and slipped this on. There is an eyelet in each corner for a bungee cord to hook under running board/front fender. If anything is flapping, it will remove paint. When I brought my 29 Chev coupe to SC from FL I thought it was substantial enough to make the trip without anything being done to it. The visor from it is now somewhere along I-85 between Montgomery and Atlanta! You can drive slowly and do OK for short trips, but, longer trips at interstate speeds require preparation to avoid damage from wind and bugs.

No hood removal or special covering here, BUT if you're using a rental trailer use your own straps and don't rely on the ones that come with the trailer. Theirs are useless on a T.

Steve .. I used one of those trailers to haul my Dad's T home... they have plenty of tounge weight, without having anything in the trailer! Looks like you have weight balanced just about right, though.

When hauling larger (car hauler) trailers I'm a firm believer in load leveler hitches with an anti-sway device. The dangers of wet roads, cross winds and passing semis are greatly minimized.

I had a good friend that had a very EXPENSIVE PAINT JOB on his 26 touring. He covered it when he trailered to Denver Co from Sterling Co. which is about 150 miles. By the time he got to Denver the expensive paint job was ruined. He then had another expensive paint job redone. I would recommend that you never, never, cover your car when hauling with anything.

I will try again. Sometime when I am running Trail Ridge I will trailer as far as Estes Park.
There is a real nice parking area in front of the Police Department that is reserved for RVs so I can park with my pickup and trailer and have plenty of space to unload.
