I just tried both Model A clubs to see if they have a forum like we do, and they DON'T! I need to know if a factory Model A uses the same battery cable grommet as a T. I have a friend with a 34 V-8, and it is the same, so it would seem to me the Model A would be too.

Yes, the Model A '28-31 does use the same battery cable grommet as the Model T.
Are you working on a "modern car", Larry?
There are a few T parts on the model A,the Grommet is one of them. Starter spring and the generator cut out, wiring harness to frame clips.
Wick
Be careful about the generator cutout statement! - not true!
Oops, ive got a couple of Generators that came from auctions that have Model A cutouts on them,Ill know to change them out if I use them.
Thanks for pointing this out.
Really? An old style electromechanical cut out should work on both positive and negative ground systems, I know since I gave one of my T cutouts to a friend who had problems with his Model A cutout & mine worked fine on his car. It's the semi conductor cutouts or Fun Project's regulators that shouldn't be mixed between A's & T's.
(Then it should be added: Fun Project's regulator is a better product that saves the generator & battery from eventual self destruction)
If you look in a Snyders catalog in the Model A section there are a few items that are listed that will interchange with T's. NOT many for sure but some grommets, top and interior trim, fasterners and etc.
Some of the same parts are in the Model T section also.

I glanced at the Ford Barn and found that they do not have the high standard this site has.
My mom recently pass so Dad's 1931 A Town Sedan has been added to my collection, but hasen't been moved yet.
Dad was the second owner and it has never been restored.
The first owners were a guy and his mom that bought it new.
She didn't drive so the son, who lived at home, drove her where she wanted to go.
They traded it in for a Rambler in the early 60's. (YES they bought an American Motor's Rambler! )
The dealer was a friend of Dad's.
I drove it to high school in the early sixties when my "real car" was broken.
Like the 1919 hack it was put in the barn in the mid sixties when dad got sick.
Although it has memories, they are not of family outings, parades, etc. like the T so I'm not emotionally attached to it.
It is under a bunch of stuff and can barely be seen. (I looked last weekend.)
I hope I don't have to make any decisions or do anything with it until spring because I don't have room or time for another project.

Fred:
Please elaborate as I don't understand the point you are trying to make with the above quoted statement.
Also, if you are referring to a specific forum on Ford Barn, please let us know.
Thanks
Timothy
I post over on the A forum at Fordbarn. It's a good site but there are a couple know it alls and a couple who feel compelled to reply to every single thread with nothing of value to add. Aside from that it is a good resource and possibly the best Model A forum I know of. There's some great info there if you dig around.
There's ahooga.com but it's pretty much dead and the chat is nothing but one or two people doing dear diary type chats.
Just my opinion.
I missed posting the quotes around "high standards" on the post.
Interpretation of "high Standards" = colorful characters!
Capitol A's provides an index so you can see at a glance what people are talking about. Very helpful.

I actually rather like Ahooga, but there are differences between the sites. The Model A guys tend to be more techy focused and less on history or other. The early V-8 folks tend to be very techy. I've found the T guys to be the most well rounded - a nice mix of techy, history, and other.
There were subtle differences in the battery cable grommets during Model A production. I don't know if any of them were the exact same as a T grommet.
G'day Larry,
I was just in the process of scanning the page that Ward just posted. Let me know if you need further information and I will look through my stuff and see what I can find. Best regards, John
Thanks for the information John and Ward. Aside from the slots inside the bushing, the Model T grommet is exactly the same, and the one we make is soft enough where you don't need them anyway!
