My 1919 Model TT firetruck has a Muncie 3 speed in it and leaks a lot of grease. Replacing the seals and verifying the condition of bearings and bushings will be on top of the to do list this winter. Does anyone know of any documentation and parts lists for it?
David.
When I took mine apart (a Muncie in a TT) I couldn't find any printed material on them. However, they're not too complicated. Just pay attention and take pictures as you disassemble it.
My bearings were really "loose", so I found a local bearing company and took the input and output bearing to them (they're the only bearings). The guy measured the inside diameter, outside diameter and the thickness and from that was able to sell me replacement bearings. That was about 7 or 8 years ago and things have worked just fine since then.
Oddly my bushings were fine, so I didn't need to figure out how to find replacements. Also, I don't recall any seals. The way it's designed the oil "wants" to stay in the case. Of course, it does drip a little...
Good luck and if your do fine some documentation please let us here on the Forum know about it!
Good Luck!!
