On this day in 1902 TR became the first sitting president to ride in an automobile in public, obviously not this one.

Teddy's ride was a Columbia Electric Victoria Phaeton. This is the 1908 model.

In 1899 Wm McKinley had a private ride in a Locomobile steam car with its inventor, Mr. Stanley.

Do you know when was the first time a sitting president rode in an airplane? Rather surprising.

Charlies right, and:

The first ex-President to fly in a plane was Theodore Roosevelt, in a Wright Flyer on October 11, 1910. Teddy Roosevelt was President from 1901 to 1909.

Teddy didn't let any grass grow under his feet....

"Do you know when was the first time a sitting president rode in an airplane?"

I would expect that he'd HAVE to sit in the plane.

So answer the question! When did Franky sit in the airplane and go for a ride?

Mike, buddy, you need to eavesdrop more carefully: They said I've been more LOCO than ever, not VOCAL.

RV -- You didn't tell me you won the lottery!

Now that you're rich, as well as famous, I hope you won't forget us commoners who are/were your friends. :-)
