Yesterday I picked up a parts book from a major parts dealer ( not one of our T parts suppliers) and ordered a timer and some wiring, I ask for it to be shipped by USPS Express mail for faster delivery. I was told that it would exceed the wt. and price to do this (BS). I canceled the order with a few extra words for them. It pays to use our T supplier friends, my order will be here by friday using USPS Express, thanks to Langs.
Bob
there are T parts suppliers that arent friends?
Bob why not buy local? There T part suppliers in your state that could get it to you a couple days std shipping.
I mostly buy from Snyders, but Smith and Jones is close in Sc and I needed a needle and seat for my TT.I called monday, they stuck it in a small box,it came by mail today.I got some catalogs from Mac's.I had trouble with parts from them many years ago but dont know if things improved or not.
I ordered some parts from MAC's and had a problem. An e-mail to the owner and a call from him personally made things right and really made them more than right. He appears to be trying to make thing's right.
A little over a week ago, I ordered a few small parts from Synder's because it was a mix of A and T bits. As the parts didn't arrive as quickly as expected, I checked with the tracking number and found they went to Australia instead of Washington State. It was an honest mistake in their shipping area and as soon as I contacted them, they reshipped my order which arrived today and with a full credit for all shipping charges. The mistake was an honest one and I suspect quite rare. Needless to say, I am very pleased with their response. It's called customer service and is welcomed.
Hope some Walt in Australia is happy with his unexpected delivery
I have purchased from
John Danuser, who is also good source of much information, quality parts and participates in the forum
Lang's - They gave me some great advice on a fix as well as good service and no hassle return
Synders - Also a good vendor when I have used them
Bob McDonald:
I get excellent service from Ford and More right in your state at Spokane. Phone number 509 535 7789 or !-800 327-1469. You will also find that there are some of the best T mechanics in the country. If you get a chance visit their site, they have a tremendous amount of original parts.
Mike & Dave
Thanks
I guess it just old habit, will need to try them next time. Been doing business with Langs sense the 80's when I lived in Alaska, all ways had great service.
Bob
I would like to add Dave Huson, Bob Bergstadt, and Reuben LeFebre to this list of great original parts sellers and gentlemen who furnish great advice. I have also obtained some great parts from others already mentioned on this thread. It is obvious that they're all in the business because they love the cars.
I will ditto what Dave Huson said about Tom Carnegie and Mike at the Antique Auto Ranch and Rick Carnegie at his shop. They have parts and do great work right in Washington State. Lang's have always treated me great also.
Let's not forget Glen and Dave. Chaffin's is also top notch.
I called Dave at Chaffins on Monday morning about 9:05am and the parts arrived UPS before noon on Tuesday.
Now that is service.
Tony, well yeah!!!!! Sure next day shipping, he practically lives in you back yard.
Steve Tomaso is about 15 or 20 miles from you in Milton, Bob. He has a good stock of what you needed. Could have been over there and back in no time and probably for less gas than the cost of getting it express mailed.
Tom, Rick & Mike in Spokane have virtually anything you could need. Regular mail is probably one day or maybe two.
As an aside to this, USPS is pretty good. I shipped a Rayfield LL3L carburetor to a guy in Germany Express Mail, which was hardly any more than International Priority. $58.00 for Express. I mailed it on Wednesday, it was there Monday morning. He can't pick it up because he didn't tell me there has to be an invoice attached to the outside of the box but that isn't the Post Office's fault. That is good service.
Walt, that sounds like the episode of All In The Family where Archie accidentally shipped something to London, England that was meant to go to London, Ontario!
Garnet
I have found that Mac's ships promptly 6 days after I place the order. I don't order from them any more.
If I order from Sacramento Vintage I get it the next day, a little less than 24 hours.
When I need T parts only I like Chaffins' or Langs'.
Garnet - that's funny you mentioned that episode - I just watched it last night.
Langs and Snyders have treated me well every time I order from them. I don't order a lot of stuff, but I can count on it being here when I need it.
Aaron, I had a similar experience with Mac's several months ago. I had to call to find out where my order was. It took almost two and a half weeks to get a set of hood blocks for my '25 coupe. They say that they are working on getting better service, I hope so. I haven't ordered anything from them since, so I don't know. They did send me a new catalog the other day though. Dave
Ive had good luck with Bobs. I ordered tire at Noon on one day,and they were at my door the next!
Wick
I order from Don Lang, because I consider him a friend. I know the entire family, and they are top notch.
I use only Langs, If Langs dont have it then I'll go else where but in all the years I'v been playing with Model T's there has only been maybe 5 or 6 items that I was not able to get from Langs. It is a top notch company and they will go out of there way to help you. Of course I do miss Trish's voice over the phone.
I just call Steve Jelf and he makes the part out of an old coat hanger and some JB Weld and then goes down to the truck stop and gets some guy to haul it for free. Always works great.
I don't think Steve uses JB Weld........
If he does I'll be eternally disappointed.
Duct tape.
Now THAT'S more like it!.......
I get parts routinely from Steve Tomaso in Milton. He takes good care of T folks from a great many places including our friends north of the border.
