I have a 1923/24 Tudor. Thanks to the help of my local club, the engine was rebuilt four years ago. It is in good shape with good even compression, runs great.
The T has a pin receiver hitch so I would like to build a small trailer/wagon for my Model T to pull. Before I even begin this process, I want to know if pulling a small trailer will be too much stress for a Model T. My T is already packing on a few extra pounds since it has the closed body. Even though the trailer wouldn't be used very often, I'd hate to invest a lot of time and money into building a wagon/trailer that causes my T to throw a fit at the extra weight.
Thanks for any insight!

Thanks Steve!
I stumbled across the thread earlier, but most Ts looked to be a little more light weight than my closed car. I'm sure I'll be fine, thought I'd double check.
If your Tudor can't pull up the hills in your area then a z-head or a 10 tooth pinion giving 4:1 in the rear axle may help?

Dean Yoder has driven to all the US states except Hawaii with a trailer behind his Touring I think?
Here are some pictures of his setup (and others)

This article appeared in a newspaper in 1919. It may give you an idea of how much weight you should limit your trailer too ???
Hopefully its clear enough to read if not I will make a transcript of it. makes some of the doubts people have about their T's capabilities seem way off. Just imagine the poor cars stress and how strong it must have been.
I know a guy with this little start of a trailer...wink, wink
I'll be at the San Fernando T swap this Sunday.
My 21 C door and 24 autocamp trailer. Pulls good. weighs about 750 lbs loaded. Les
Wow Les, 750 lbs. Considering the weight of the axle, wood, etc.., I can see how it adds up. It's comforting to see that your Centerdoor handles it well.
Although according to the article from Peter, our Ts can pull an army of men. Sometimes maybe we do under estimate it's durability.
Scott, I'd be happy to take the wagon off your hands - it's a good start for my project. But you'll need to head to a swap meet further east - I live in Indiana.
This is my auto kamp trailer fully set up. Spring matress',cook stove, table etc. Les
Wow! Nice work Les. I found a similar setup at the Henry Ford Museum and took tons of photos with the intent to build one. I was worried it would be too heavy plus figured it would be a hard sell to drag the wife along : )
