Updated: 8:30 p.m. Saturday with victim ID
BELVIDERE — A 22-year-old man is dead in Boone County after a 1927 Ford crashed into a utility pole and rolled over in a field about four miles east of Belvidere.
The Boone County Sheriff's Department identified the man as John Kemp of Poplar Grove.
Deputies were called a 6:15 a.m. Saturday to Marengo Road, just west of Loveridge Road. They said the victim ejected from the vehicle.
Police are investigating and said alcohol may have played a role in the crash.
He should have drank "T"......RIP
Stories like this always make me want to see the car. It may have been an actual T, but I always suspect a hot rod with a T radiator shell. Most reporters don't know the difference.
.......How sad.......just don't know what else to say~~~~~~~
Pure speculation.... but how many John Kemp's own a 1927 Ford?

grim...and if that is indeed him, Luke, he was about 18 in that pic.
What a shame...
Not enough information that I can see if this a original 27 or a Hot Rod. If it was a 27 with a small Chev V8 its not a "real" T.
Too bad about the driver.
That car is on his facebook page, but his death isn't mentioned on any of his friends pages. So either their being quiet about it out of respect for the family, or it's not him.
A bad part of my job is I film fatality accidents. So many I have filmed over the years are kids and alcohol involved. I feel for the family.
John, I think the dead give away would be the twin valve covers and drilled A axle. Sorry situ in any case. He's my grandkids age ranges and I couldn't even begin to imagine the grief

Sorry to say I found the Obit. Condolences to the family and all who knew him. Too young!
Devastating.
That is sad, sad. May he rest in peace.
Very Sad ... With that said , that car , with that motor , needed seat belts , and if it had them , it's even sadder he wasn't wearing them. Most of the fatality accidents I have been to in the last 10 years , excluding motorcycles, have been because the driver wasn't wearing a seat belt. It is also a testament to how well air bags help to save lives.
