Hello all:

I got shocked off spark plug yesterday while working on T. I had the switch set on battery and accidently touched spark plug (not smart I know). Is this anything to be concerned with? My arm hurt alittle after the jolt.

Your arm hurt because your muscles were violently spasmed. It'll go away.

Your only danger would be if your heart were to be sent in to arythmia (sp?). Since you survived overnight, that doesn't seem to be a consideration.

As your mama told you: "Don't do that again!!"

You will be fine. I have accidently done this a few times and it really gets your attention. :-)

the ol buzz coils hurt worse than any other ignition ive been zapped by.

ive heard of people killing the enbine by grounding all four plugs with both hands. not something i want to try.

i think if it were to hurt you badly you would know right away, as you would have a heart attack or somthing.

I got tired of catching and dropping the wild barn cats on the cattle electric hot wire to see if the fence worked so I just started touching it my self. You can get used to it.

Just drink a lot of water and then test the electric fence that way. I hear it works quite well.

I can't even count how many times I've been shocked on spark plugs, among other things. It just usually leads to tools flying across the room and uttering a long string of colorful words!

Presume you do not have a pace maker Ryan. Peter pretty well covered it. When I was growing up I mowed lawns with a push mower. In those days there was no kill switch. There was a piece of metal you had to ground out the spark plug with. Shocks from the spark plug were a common happening.

Dave, can you do us a documentary study on that test? And let us know the results? :-)
I got hit 1 time by the high voltage transformer in a old bw tv.My buttocks were about a 1/16th of a inch from the concrete floor in the basement when I bumped that wire. The current went out the rear,I went straight up off the floor!
Still, not like getting the magic touch from a T coil.

Just don't pee on the coils, the spark plugs, or an electric fence.

A short while ago, I noticed a roughness in the idle. I pulled into a store parking lot, and opened the hood to check the wires. I really didn't think much about it, but I was leaning over and my private parts were resting against the fender. When I got shocked, I evoked several deities, and pondered my possible nomination for the 2012 Darwin Awards. I was sure that I had become a evolutionary dead end.

A few weeks ago, at a longtime good friends home, we were setting some of my coils up on his HCCT. He told me to "put your finger here". So I reached to do so. He just about freaked as I reached. I would touch it. I worked for years in high voltage and power systems as well as antique automobiles. I have been shocked many times, and know pretty well what kind of shocks are dangerous and which are not. Also, grounding matters (right Gerald?). If you ever meet me, you may notice I usually have one hand in my pocket. I grew up around power systems.
It is a good idea to be aware of your general health and any potential heart problems. What could be a fun jolt to most, could be fatal for a few.
The one you do not want to get, is a moderate power RF (radio frequency) burn. You will probably survive. You won't know for a few days whether or not you are glad you did. I have not had one. I have known people that did.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
