That is not a Buick carburetor in terms of Buick cars. It was sold under a variety of names, by various companies, over a period of several years with several different design changes around the basic carburetor. The Briscoe version of this was pretty popular. The big difference seems to be that the early ones, most of which are marked Buick, are cast of bronze with some pot metal parts and the later ones were make completely of pot metal. Some of the pot metal ones were painted with a bronze colored paint. I have half a dozen of them and have never mounted one up and run it. They must have sold a lot of them. I have some old ads for them, they sold for about three bucks when a Stromberg cost $15.00

There were well over 100 different accessory carburetors made for the Model T. The Stromberg LF and later OF were by far the most popular -- as they actually did what they claimed: Better running, better starting, smoother idle, no adjusting, better economy. A lot of other were also very good. The Zenith was good, the Wheeler Schebler was popular, the Simmons was an improvement, etc.

If you want to see some pictures, go to www.strombergof.com and click on "Accessory Carburetors" and scroll down through the pics. The pics on that page show about half of my collection, Russ Potter and a couple other guys have bigger collections than I do.

Here is a adv of the 'Brisco' mfg one, Detroit. The trade-name is derived from the Brisco Co. name

Adv from Automobile Trade 1920.

I put this carb on my 11, it cranked quick and ran well. I was wandering if anyone knows how to adjust the fuel mixture as there is no adjustment that you can see from the outside.

It's also standard equipment for a Gray automobile.

Is there an mixture adjustment under the nameplate?

There seems to be a wire bail holding the cover on the "steam dome", in line with the main jet? There might be an adjustment screw inside the cylindrical dome.

there is an adjustment under the top plate. It appears to have a lock nut holding a screw. You cant adjust it with the engine running so I was hoping to get a starting point.
