Besides the 32 kids, this T has some interesting shocks on the front axle.
The front spring looks a little 'flat', though .. under the load! LOL Interesting photo .. surprised the number of kids with hats on.
Is the car a late '12?
I need to find some outfits and hats like that for my boys.
This Ford dealer was still in its original location in the 1950s. I bought a coil-spark plug tester from them and some Model T parts in the mid 1950s. The son of the original owner was operating the dealership at that time.
I would like to see this scene recreated today. Any volunteers? And no I'm not talking about the kids.
No surprise about the headgear, as the army calls it. It's rare to see people outdoors without some kind of head covering a hundred years ago. I see three boys bareheaded, three with hats, and all the rest with caps. I would guess that this is mostly a working class lot, but that the boy in front wearing knickers, long stockings, and a sweater, is from a family that's a little more affluent. I see three definitely wearing overalls, but most not. A mix of farm and town boys? It would be interesting to know the story behind the picture.
Lance,
If you own this card, what does it say on the reverse of the card?

Most of those kids would have been from middle class or farm families. Delano was and still is a small town 30 miles west of Minneapolis. Today it could almost be considered a suburb.
My dad bought his 1910 IHC roadster from the original owner in Delano in 1951. He bought his 1917 Model T touring from the original family in Buffalo, which is approximately seven miles northwest of Delano, in 1949. He grew up in Minneapolis but when he was a teenager he spent his summers on a farm in Buffalo and chased down antique cars in the area.
I'll have to ask him if he ever bought any NOS Model T parts from Delano Auto.
Wonder which one was driving? Actually, it looks like one in about the right spot, MIGHT have a bit of a mustache ...
They started driving young back then: http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/179374/250999.html?1323234682
Reminds me of the photograph in Floyd Clymer's Model T Memories. The caption for this one says 50 kids are on board, any advance on 50 anyone ?
The standard front spring is really flat. I can't help keep thinking how much load is on the small part of the front spring perches, between the bolt and the eye. Sure says something for Henry's vanadium steel.

I'll bet that's a summer shot. Unlike the Minnesota boys in May, almost nobody's wearing a coat.
Could use a bit of air in that right rear tire. Hope the hood survived!
If i have 6 people in my car it will barely move the tires rub on the fenders too much.
