My sister lives near there and I always enjoy visiting and taking in Tombstone. Haven't been in several years but now that I am retired I am looking forward to taking a month or so in the coldest part of the winter. I have had several tours of Boot Hill and see something different every time. I especially like the grave marker that says, "Hanged by mistake". I sure that happened quite a bit back in the day.

David.

Karchner's Caverns is a good trip if you like the underground.

There's a wrecking yard in Ft. Huachuca with some interesting antique car parts.

Sitting on the front porch at the Trail Rider's Inn in Tombstone this morning doing my one finger typing :-) and drinking my coffee ....

Highly recommend the night tour.

Got up at 2:30 a.m. this morning and walked an empty town under a nearly full moon for a couple hours.

If you find yourself east of Tucson traveling the I-10, take the 25 mile one way detour to Tombstone ...

Great place to visit. The air is so clear and dry you can see the lights of Sierra Vista (formerly Fry) 19 miles away without any twinkling!

Also, Sierra Vista is the location for Fort Huachuca, an old Cavalry post from the late 1800s. When I was there in 1970, they still had the old parade ground with the two story barracks around - just like the old John Wayne movies.

I agree, Tombstone is a neat town. How many bullet holes are there in the Birdcage Theater. I don't remember, but it was more than 20 or so.
The Tombstone Lions Club puts on quite a show on most weekends. You can be walking down the sidewalk and all of a sudden some guy will fly out of a saloon with a couple of guys chasing him and maybe shooting. Like you say, a neat town.
Almost as good as Westmore, MT. (Just to see if Stan is still around here.)
