I have built a Reagan wheel press and will be finishing spokes this week.

My question is this: After I have the spokes installed - using the wheel press - will I need another type of press to install the hubs, or should they just push into place? I have purchased the new bolts from RV, btw.

Thanks,

Michael

You should have the hub in place when pressing the wheel together :-) http://www.mtfca.com/discus/messages/179374/254098.html?1324316407

Be sure your spokes are a press fit on the hub. You do not want them to be loose. The press is intended to insert the hub in the wheel / spoke assembly.

This shows me starting wrong by fastening the felloe in place, but the rest is about right. I found that the paper cylinder to support the spokes was superfluous. Some people are so good at this that they can do it with no spoke support other than the height of the hub. I'm not that talented, so I used the cardboard collar under the spokes and that worked perfectly for me.

Oh....now I see. The hub goes in with the spokes and the backplate just gets bolted on after. Thanks! That makes sense.

Be sure to check the flange of your hubs to be sure they are perpendicular to the axle centerline before you assemble your wheels. Particularly the front hubs. Don't ask me how I found out the hard way.
