Hi all,
Can anyone tell me what conrods are used to compensate for journal misalignment/offset on 1 & 4 cylinders when a model A crankshaft is installed.
I have heard of offset rods… to cutting the rod bigend on one side, to only reweld the piece to the other side ….prior to re white metalling.
If model A rods are used then new pistons with an offset gudgeon is required.
Surely there must be a supplier out there that has access to a set of rods able to be installed to standard pistons, which are offset for 1 & 4 cyl that I just haven’t found at this stage.
Cheers Lindsay

Just have the shop remove some from the too wide side when they install a new wrist pin bushing. 1/8"/3mm clearance is good. I use a Sunnen Expander Mandrel to roll the bushing in for a tight fit and use the trimming cutter on it to narrow the rod. You can use a grinder and a file to dress it up if doing it at home.
