friend of mine told me he used to buy model t radiators in kit form and solder them himself to save cost, this was back in the 50s and 60s.
does anybody offer a model T radiator in kit form?
I doubt it. And unless you are a very good plumber - I wood not gamble on this vital part.
wood = would
Seems like I've seen various repair panels offered to repair radiators, and of course, we've all heard of recoring, so building one yourself is not a stretch. However, I'd be afraid mine would look like Fido's hind end.
Matthew, why would you want to punish yourself that way? .......
i like soldering and im so cheap it hurts...
plus how many people have built there own radiator???
I have built a brass one. Not easy to do,but if you are patient...
I am one of the ones that built a radiator once. Well part of one. I got a great honeycomb from some thirties thing. It had been damaged in ways that it was useless for whatever it was from, but had a great core still large enough for a high radiator T. I modified the bottom tank. Made almost the entire top tank as well as the side pieces and mountings. I used it on the TT I had about thirty years ago. It worked really well. Looked good. Cooled nice.
The core was free. A couple dollars for material including solder. What more could you ask for. I am part Scottish. And a well known cheapskate and scrounge.
I am seriously considering building my own brass radiator. I wonder what I can use as a core?
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Wayne if you do build a radiator get Steve Jelf to take pictures of the process. It would made a great thread on the forum.
Like Wayne I do my own radiator work, not scottish but a cheapskate! KB
