I am doing continued work on my TT. I just realized since the truck is so much different than the car I have no idea how to remove the driveshaft or tube. I would like to replace a leaking gasket on the ball connection to the transmission. Can it be done without pulling the rear axle? I have some repair manuals on the cars but as you know the TT is different. Any books for the repair of TT's?
Thanks for all your help,
Mark
A TT is the same as a T to the u-joint, from there back its much bigger, you unbolt the front just like a T, I-d drop the rear spring hangers and slide the rear backwards, replace and put it back as the driveshaft is pinned to the worm like your u-joint should be pinned to the driveshaft
Mark, that leak may be coming from the "fourth Main" as that bearing is often called. (transmission ball cap)
I do not think I ever had just the gasket leak on a TT truck or a T car.
You don't need to remove the driveshaft or tube to replace the gasket. Just cut it and slip it over the ball and seal it with your favorite gasket sealer with the cut on top. Dave
