I found this in my parts stash, though it would match the Snow Bird project fairly well.

Great fun just tinkering around.
I'll give that a big yes.
I'd say that one is perfect for the Snow Bird......it has wings......
I wonder why the repop motometers are CHROME plated? I really, really need a Boyce Jr. for my fords but won't let chrome get close to my barn.
Thanks guys.
I love to see the show cars and those others driving down the road, but I enjoy the hobby of searching-finding the odd ball ones ( Snow units and 4X4 and there history ) and getting them to work again. Driving around the ares sometimes and seeing the looks on the faces when I tell them that I do this for my enjoyment and give a little history lesson.

George,
I applaud you. Chrome does not belong anywhere near a model T.
I do not know about new Chinese chrome. But good chrome is put over a base layer of nickel. Muriatic (hydrochloric) acid will dissolve the chrome, but will not harm good nickel. It has been done many times. Just soak the chrome plated part for awhile (time depending upon the thickness of the chrome and the strength of the acid). Usually an hour will do if the acid is fresh.
WARNINGS!
1, The motometer may not be sealed well enough. If acid gets inside, it would likely destroy the escutcheon or other parts and possibly destroy the meter. I do not know if the new ones can be taken apart or not (to bathe only the chrome parts).
2, Be afraid of the fumes. Very afraid. One deep breath can be very painful and could actually be fatal. Fumes can also severely damage paper , wood or metal nearby and downwind. Extreme caution is advised. (I have been using it for many years and haven't died yet.)
3, Again, I don't know how well it will work with cheap Chinese chrome.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
