I just got this bell. It is in "as found" condition. It is full of dirt and missing the plunger to ring it, but it should clean up. This is the first one of these I have seen with the patent information on it like in the photo.
Has anyone else got one?
I would like to make the right plunger.

Found mine several weeks ago. It is marked "TU-TONE-CHIME, L.A. CAL, SUTONE CORP". I have had this one since the late 50's. Was on my first car, a 1941 Ford.
Herb,
I have one that when I took it apart I had to soak the interior movements in oil for several days until they loosened up. I use an engine valve for the plunger. I machined the shaft down to fit. Buffed the exterior up and it looks like new. I have it on my '22 Coupe and it sounds great.
I have the exact same model of Bermuda bell on my 1905 Queen. If you need any info, drawings, blueprints, etc. or wish me to make any parts for you let me know how I can help.
I found a really rusty one, soaked the whole thing in evaporust and it came out rust free, very loud. I have a larger brass one that is the loudest ive ever heard.
Had one on my 51 Ford convert. It came apart as I was going down the Jersey turnpike back in the late fifties. "BOING DA BOING - Boing Da Boing - boing da boing" as it disappeared in my rear view mirror.
When I was in high school, my summer job was at a swimming pool service and supply company. There was a guy there about ten years older than I was who had a 1956 Packard with every accessory that came with the car and some he had added. It had a Bermuda bell and in the winter, when kids would throw snowballs at passing cars, he'd ring the bell every time they got a hit...
I have one that was in my Dad's shop that is electric. It says "Klaxon Bermuda Bell" on it. It's lost in storage, or I'd take a picture of it for y'all.

Hi Herb
This patent appears to be similar to the bell in your photos.

If Bevin Brothers, which was founded in 1832 was still in
business today, wouldn’t it be interesting if they still had
the drawings for your bell?
However timing is everything,
The plant burned down late Saturday night May 26, 2012

Will they rebuild the plant after 180 years in business?
They say that they will . . .
