I got carried away with bidding and paid $75 for the box that contained:
The question, especially for plug experts: Did I overdo it?
At a $1.53 each, I don't think it's too much, even some room for profit at resale.
Steve, you paid $1.50 for each item shown. A very cheap price for a nice plug collection! You stole them!!!
Now, what the heck are those thingys in the last photo?
Tony
NIce haul Steve. What I want to know is - what photo editing software are you using? Like the way you are able to produce the neutral colored backgrounds.
Mahlon,
Those look like valve stem covers.
Steve, the best six plugs would easily get you your money back on "T" Bay in spark plug collector land.
I think you got a good deal ... Nice assortment. I've not seen the light-house looking ones on the pink background.
Good job!
Those are not all Model T plugs, but would make a nice display, even if you don't use them in your car. The valve stem covers will make someone happy who is trying to keep the car and tires authentic. If not, they also make a good display.
Norm
Daniel, I would guess the plugs are on a piece of glass with colored paper 4 or 5 inches below to loose the shadows. Nice "old fashioned" photography....
Bob
Those green ones on the pink background are Splitdorf. They were very popular in the day. Splitdorf also made a popular mag conversion for T engines from about 1914 or 15 on.
Bob, Yup!, been there done that, works with lots of different "stuff"
Thanks Bob! Love the tricks of the photographic trade...learn something new every day.
Bob has got it about right. The only software involved was for cropping and resizing. I shoot small objects on a sheet of window glass laid across a couple of sawhorses. The backgrounds are colored cardboard available at any office supply, laid on the ground under the sawhorses. I shoot under a carport. That provides diffused side lighting and prevents sky reflection.
Now that you mention it Steve, I can just see the reflection of a couple of the plugs in the glass. Fascinating. I'll be using that tequnique in the future...thanks.
