In the transmission book put out by the club it shows that the shaft should be .998 and the bushing 1.00 for a clearance of .002 in the brake drum assembly. That's .001 running and seams tight, is that good or should it be a little more?
Thanks
I think 0.002 clearance is on a radius. Only 0.002 on a diameter is too tight.
I am thinking the same thing. But that's what is in the book. The shaft I am using is just a smidgen under .998. I am thinking .004 to .005 clearance on the diameter would be better. I used the clubs ream last time, which was checked as to being the correct size and it was a tight fit to even get the drum assembly on, esp trying to fit the triple gears at the same time.
The clearance on that bushing should be .003, or not over, if wore, .003-50.
It will be a cold fit at .003, and a hot fit at .002, as the main shaft will enlarge .001 thousandths, from the Motor Temp.
Radius clearance consists of the bushing being pushed far enough, in the brake drum, so it doesn't hit the Radius, on the main shaft.
