Does anyone have the Band Changing Tool and a Nut and Washer holding tool that you willing to sell to me or lend. I will, of course pay shipping.
Thanks,
Dan

Any of the parts suppliers should carry these. I know Ford-n-More in Spokane does. 800-327-1469

if this is your first band change, and you're putting on Kevlar or wood bands, then you'll be able to do a better job with the hog's head off. In fact, it's all but mandatory when installing wood bands. That said, then you won't need a band changing tool if the hog's head is off.

"Better job" means straightening the twist out of bands and also forming them so that they are round, and fully release from the drums when not engaged. It is very difficult to wrestle bands in through the transmission door and not bend or otherwise distort them...a condition that is quite undesirable.

I don't use either of those tools any more. I use ty wraps to hold the bands in place. I tie each nut and washer to a piece of dental floss and tie the dental floss to one of the pedals.

I find the band clamp and wrench combo available from the vendors for $14 to $15 - T-3416 - is very useful. It is great for holding the three bands squeezed while you replace the hog's head.

The dental floss or thread on the nuts and washers is also a good idea. You do not want to go fishing for them in the bottom of the pan!

Just be sure you do not use any metal that might fall in and short your magneto. Take key out of coil box and put it in your pocket.
