Had a bear of a time getting the 3rd main cap off: now, one of the Third Main Bearing Bolts is stuck up with no threads sticking out . Do I need to remove the hogs head ? This is really turning out to be a major pain...... Ideas please ?

Dan, try a cow Magnet or a flat end strong, magnet, to either pull, or also turn the bolt, until the bolt head lines up with the flat in the block. If it is jammed up, then I don't know.

Clean it and use super glue. Pull down when glue dries.

I was able to get a bent wire up in behind and pull it down finally .... thanks Herm. I am going to post a new thread with pictures of my 3rd main and cap. Your comments would be appreciated. I don't have the money to pull this thing out and rebuild it , nor do I think it so bad that I can't keep it running for some time . It was rebuilt when it was built as a speedster circa 1981 , and I can't imagine it was used too much. How it was built , or to what quality, engine wise , remains to be seen. Dan
