Yesterday we saw George Clipner's pictures from Springfield. Yesterday afternoon he stopped here on his way back to L.A.
George is taking his touring car to California.
A little mishap in Missouri resulted in a future project for George when he gets home.
Before he took off this morning we sat for our official portrait.
What a nice pair of noble gentlemen!!! And nice cars too! :-)
Steve, my first encounter with George's car was in 2003, when his Dad - George Sr. - joined the St Louis group on our drive to Dearborn for the Ford Centennial. Time flies...
Yea, I woke up, went out to my suitcase for my toothbrush, saw Steve gettin' ready for a pic. Thinking he wouldn't take a pic with me brushin' my teeth,I carried on. Big mistake. (note to self, Steve has wicked sense of humor) Had a fine overnite at the Jelf Estate. If anybody is drivin' with in 100 miles of his place, you really should stop by. I'm glad I did. Steve, you are really an amiable host. Do be so kind to let us know of your next trip to sunny, southern left coast.
Dick, I'll be out there again in 6/9 months I'll make plans to get with you. Geo.
now I know where all my pencils were that I was looking for tonight...
I might point out that if you are traveling at highway speed, the SMV should not be displayed. If I remember correctly, the speed limit for a vehicle with an SMV is 35mph, but on the other side of the coin, I think it is a great idea to display one when traveling at T speeds.
Best
Gus
Yes, I should take the SMV off, but dad put it there and it'll stay till I get to L.A. Thanks for the reminder though A.G.
Great pics, You can tell which one was the "Official" picture. I sort of like the first one. There must be a story we would all like to hear about concerning the fender issue on a nice looking car, Oouch.
George, Have a safe trip back
You 2 guys look like a couple of G-Men ....
Or a couple of Bootleggers .......
Jim
They would be good canidates for the National Geographic Channel's "American Outliers" series!
BOOTLEGGERS AND THE GUY ON THE RIGHT OF THE PHOTO IS THE GET A- WAY DRIVER opps all caps sorry
Uh Oh Looks like trouble!
Slow driving fast talkers. The worst kind.
Bad looking dent there George, but looks like an easy pound out, let me know if you want me t'do some whang'n on it.
Think Martin and I should spin over to the Eastfork of San Gabriel River and see if we can find a couple of nice rocks.
Not rocks George, I've got the blocks, hammers and compound curves for making wee dents like that disappear.
Coowal Mart. I'll take you up on that. Gor a small welder ??? Looks like an old crack under all that Bondo.
OK Gene, the fender story is up !!! Sad about fender, but the story makes for a good laugh.
