Ron,
Thanks for posting. It actually includes the Ford times from 1908 into 1909. The transcontinental race is in there also. There is a button on it that allows you to save it as a PDF also.
As more and more information is scanned -- we should be able to find additional details to add to our understanding about the cars and how they were made etc. But often times we may not know it is out there unless someone shares that information with us. Some have seen it before -- but I would much rather have it posted a couple of times than not let folks know about it.
Thank you for pointing it out.
Respectfully submitted,

Thanks for the post! I love the "Inspirations". :-)
What a great read!
It's amazing to think that Henry Ford in 1908 did not realize that his new car was going to become one of the most successful (and almost certainly the most influential) cars in history.
Are Model T era 'Ford Times' collectable? I ask because I just bought my first 1917 Ford Times in gorgeous condition at an antique store on Labor Day.
Must be me, but I don't see what download button you're talking about Hap.

Remarkable. I saved it as a web archive. I have collected Ford Times for many years and missing only one from 1913-1917 and some from 1910-1911. Perhaps 80 different issues and some duplicates. This web download is a great addition. I will try to print in out and put together a repro set for those early years.
Garnet,
If you are on the page where you can read the book, look for the red box that says "Ebook-Free". Right click on that red box, and the PDF download connection should appear. You do need to have a free Google password to download a copy to your own computer.
Ron Dupree
Ron, thanks, however,
I am in the same boat as Garnet, very frustrating.
I have signed up with Google and have notification back from them but it has made no difference. The closest I can get to opening it is "no eBook available".
I make no claims to being a geek. Do you have any further suggestions for a technology challenged person like me ?
Gavin,
Sometimes the Internet code does not work properly on all browsers. I am using Firefox (release 15.0.1) from Mozilla as my browser and it worked fine. All I did was float my mouse cursor over the red button and this is what I saw - no right click required for me:
Try again. If it still does not work, try a different browser - Microsoft Internet Explorer is sort of the de facto standard that web people work to, so it will usually work.
I ordered a reprint of the 400 page book from a book dealer for $16 postpaid.
I suspect this is a country/location thing. I get what is called a "snippet view" in Australia with no option to download available. The link in the original post above redirects to a books.google.com.au URL. Gavin is in NZ. Garnet where are you?
We're clearly seeing a different screen to people in the US. Does anybody have a solution to help us out? What is the file size of the PDF?
Andrew
Guys - got it! I posted the link into an "anonymizer" web page that hides your IP address and was able to download it. Well, the first one I tried returned an error, but the second one worked.
Andrew
Andrew,
whew, thanks, that sounds like it.
I gave up on the download and have ordered a hardcopy through Alibris.
But I am interested in an "anonymizer" web page for the future. Where do you find them ?
My most humble thanks to you Andrew! That's precisely what the problem was. Using an anonymizer website allowed me to view the page properly and see the download link. Google sucks!
You certainly don't see archive.org acting with such stupidity.
Garnet
Gavin,
I use 'hidemyass.com' when I need a proxy. Nothing illegal, there's times I have to do research at work that requires my IP be non traceable.
