There is a nice photo of an almost new T Touring on Shorpy today. Vi and Liz are standing in front of it but there are some nice details showing.

Hmmm. I don't think I've ever seen a windshield folded quite like that. Any guesses what the little do-hickey is on top of the left rear fender? Sort of looks like a deer whistle? Thanks for posting the pic.
Many of the cars in Shorpy pictures has similar parking lights on the left rear fender - it was a law demand in some areas like Washington, DC, where these ladies started their long trip to San Fransisco in june 1922.

That 'do-hickey' is a parking lamp. Modern cars today have pairs on front and rear. In the twenties, single tail lights were the norm, but also a parking light was deemed by some jurisdictions to be mandatory.
So you purchased these lamps and installed them, most times only on the left rear fender. Illuminated at night when parked on a public thoroughfare street.
One of these was on the Autowa, works too!
Shorpy, has put up the same car, same accessories but from another angle.

During WWII, cars parked in certain Atlantic coastal communities were required to have driver's side fender parking lights powered by a separate battery. The idea was they would be visible to somebody on the road at night during the blackouts. I have one on our Model A Town Sedan, great conversation piece.
