Since the T has been down, I've been working on my Dad's 1917 Overland. Here are before/after shots of the aluminum hubcap. I'd been told that I'd be better off trying to find a better one at a swapmeet so I figured that I had nothing to lose. This is as far as I think I can bang out and reshape. The next step I'm told is to get a product called Muggyweld to fill in the damaged areas.
Man Jim, you are good - very impressive!
Very impressive! I did some '25 Studebaker hubcaps a long time ago. So I can really appreciate the effort that went into that. Fixing brass model T hubcaps is a piece of cake compared to those.
Some sanding, starting at about 400 grit wet on the dings. Followed by 600 grit wet and continuing by as small a grit change as is available clear up to 2000 grit if you can get it. Then you get to begin polishing.
Nice work.
Drive carefully, and enjoy, W2
Very nice work. That's not an easy shape to fix, so many compound angles.
