OK, did a recheck of the magneto. Not good.
Switch is still faulty, because we're getting readings when things should not be reading.
New plan: order a switch and recharge the magnets.
Now, I need info on where to obtain a better switch for good money.
Does the re-pro ignition switch have a pattern of sending DC voltage to the magneto, thus weakening the magnetic strength of the magneto ??????????????
William
Get a rebuild of your switch from Ben Martin.
He does original switches, and nice quality work.

Send along your switch key too that mates with the cyl or if not, get a pair as he also mates the key to the tumbler.
Restored and rebuilt to like new by Ben.
Found the re-pro switch innards has weak rivits holding the circular contacts thus lessining the movement of the contacts to properly make contact with the magneto post on the switch,
Used a back-up buck under the rivit, and tapped the other side of the rivit with a punch and hammer. Effectively helped to run engine on magneto, but magneto outut topped out ay 12 volts AC.
Need to re-charge magnets after rebuilt switch is obtained from John Danuser.
I got the 5012CBQ repair kit from Lang's, not the whole switch. Some don't like it because it's different from the original parts. I think it's better. No problems.
My switch is a repro switch. So do I just contact him and request a new switch (whole assembly) or should I send him my repro switch?
I know most if not all repros are numbered 55. I have about three original 55 keys that I use. I don't like the repro keys.
Thanks
By the way, there are two different repair kits sold by Lang's, and I assume a lot of the other dealers. Surprise, surprise, the one that costs more is better.
For those with a coil box switch, I don't think there is a kit. This is probably because you can easily fix it yourself with parts from the local hardware store.
He won't rebuild repro switchs, I have 2 rebuilt ones in stock, one in the surround in primer w/potmarks in it 80.00 w/out the amp guage and one that is painted nice w/orig. amp guage gone thru 130.00 plus UPS both rebuilt by B. Martin danuser88@ktis.net
I sent you a message....
Dan, is the switch in the foreground with an early 1919 cast switch lever and a Hoyt ammeter from your Autowa?
