Can someone tell me if for a 1912 car for judging purposes if the plug wire terminals are to be copper or brass and if they must be soldered on both ends? I have the brown fabric wire but can't find the details on the ends.
Thanks

Thanks for the replies. But, are both ends to be brass or copper for judging as I only want to buy the once.
Thanks

All the ones for sale at T dealers are NOT correct. The material was copper on both ends but they were also different than what is being sold. I doubt however that any judge knows that. I made the correct ends for my Delivery Car but the car that beat me had the typical copper ones that everyone sells.

I'd solder. I've had crimped ones pull out.

From an electrical point of view either crimped or solder is fine because high voltage will easily jump small gaps so all you really have to do is make sure that you have some sort of metal path end to end that doesn't fall apart and you are all set even if it is loose fit. Now this applies only to spark plug wires. On early cars the magneto to coil box wire is a duplicate of one of the spark plug wires and THAT wire needs to be a solid connection at both ends. It carries primary coil power of 1.3 amps and is low voltage so you can't get away with a marginal connections on that wire. Early coil wires were soldered at both ends but NOT on the underside as are most of the "correct" coil wires that are sold.

John:
Thanks for the reply. I will solder the wires on the inside ends for a solid connection.

John, I would be very interested to on to see what shape the terminals should be and material for all the T's-1909-27.I know the guy who makes all these terminals and he would also be interested to make them correct.
