I've installed new wooden spokes, and I am installing hubs and new screws (from RV), and nuts to hold the two halves of the hubs together.

The screws stick up about 1/4 - 3/8 inch about the nuts on the inside of the hub. I'm thinking I should grind these down level with the nuts, and the pean them together, no?

Michael

Michael, don't grind them down level with the nuts, leave the bolts about 1/16 to 1/8 of an inch above the nuts. Then pein them over the nuts. If you grind them level, you can't pein them over the nuts. If they loosen up over the years, just retighten them and pein them again. Dave
