Hello T Friends
Tonight I removed the spindle arms off my front axle. My T manual says the part # for them should be T 280 and T 281.
My arms say T 282 and T 270. I also noticed the holes at the end of the spindle arms are different. One is thicker than the other. The T 270 seems thinner in metal thickness. Can I use these ? Will I need different bushings etc? What am I dealing with ? Thanks !

All T's would use the same bushing for the tie rod yoke bolt. How does the yoke fit on the thin one, is there lots of up and down movement? Or are you talking about the over all casting/forging around the hole? Depending on how you are going to drive the car and how much slop there is, I would install the bushing then file both to the same thickness of the hole or at least install flush with the top then ream as needed. Any place the bushing sticks proud of the hole will wear the yoke. Maybe someone else will chime in and tell if T270 is a Ford number or not.
Thank you. Both are stamped FORD
The spindle bodies are T280 and T281. This number does not appear anywhere on the spindles.
The arms are marked T270B and T282B for 1919 - 27.
Here are the proper parts for 1919 - 25.
Your spindles are offset about an inch from center. This was for lowering the car in 1926-27.
T 282 and 270 are straight arms for 1919 and earlier with wishbone above the axle. They would not be proper for a 1920 car that should have the wishbone under the axle.
You guys are fast I just opened the book after looking at the parts and was going to post.
