I picked up a can today that I know nothing about and just wanted to see if someone could tell me anything about it. It is a sears, roebuck and co. non chattering oil for ford model t. It is a 5 gal can, round and is black with gold lettering. Thank You
Sounds like a neat find..can you post a picture ?
Thanks and I will try to post a picture tomorrow.
Here is a picture, thanks.
The picture didn't come through James ....
like this one ?
No, it is not like that one. I will try to post a picture tomorrow. Thanks
Sounds like the predecessor to Marvel Mystery Oil. I wonder if it contained rapeseed or other slick oil to keep the bands from being grabby? That sure works on wood band liners.
rdr
Trying another picture. Thanks
That can must be from 1928 or later. Otherwise I don't think it would include the phrase "for Old Style Ford."
Looking at it again, I see it says "for Old Style Model T Ford."
I couldn't quite make out that Model over T symbol to the right of the word "style."
Still, it's probably 1928 or later.
Thanks for the info.
I don't know how long Sears sold that product, but the style of can looks to me like forties or later.
