I have acquired an unfinished project, (taken apart some 30 years ago) and has had four owners since. In removing what was left on the interior upholstery I have questions.
Was there an assist strap on the side posts for the rear seat passengers to use? Impression in the remaining upholstery indicates something was attached.
How was the rear window blind mounted? Any pictures would be a great help. Thanks for your help. JP
Jack, Other folks with 25 fordors can verify me if I'm right, but I don't think any year of T fordor used either an assist strap on a quarter window pillar, or a robe rail (actually a piece of rope) behind the front seat. The fordors did have a switch for the dome light mounted on the passenger side quarter pillar. The Model A's had assist straps and Snyder's lists them in their catalog.
Jack, as far as the the rear window blind is concerned I am pretty sure it was mounted the same way as the Coupes of that time frame (24-25). It mounts just above the rear window about 1 inch up.
I have a 24 Coupe and did at one time own a 25 4dr. So thats how those were mounted in those cars. Check with Langs and Macs as they have reproduction rear window blinds and mounts.
Could it be what you see on the posts was something some owner way back when attached for some type of assist strap?
Owners did all types of things to Model T's and that may have been one of them.
I guess you could call it optional equipment by the owner.
Jack, There was no assist strap in my 24 Fordor, and I don't think Ford used one. There is a dome light switch on the pass. side pilar.I'm not so sure Ford used a rear window roll up shade either.I did use a Model A shade though.
This is how I did my Tudor. Think a Fordor would be the same. End brackets were original and re-plated. Located as on the original wood. Shade was from either Snyder's or Lang's
Fordor may have had blinds on the rear Quarters too.
I have never seen assist straps on them but haven't seen many originals.

There's no hand strap of any kind listed in the body parts list. It could be that someone had flower vases or straps mounted on the pillars. They were common accessories.
I just checked my '25 Fordor and was going to take a couple pics for you but the camera battery needs charging.......grrrrr
At any rate there are holes in the framework that correspond to the shade brackets in Richard's photo.
Interior of our 1924 Fordor. Regards, John
I got some photos.
The highlighted circles are the screw holes and are 27 3/8" apart.
The highlighted rectangles are the window trim and the brackets would be slightly above the center of the top of the trim.
Thanks for all the input. It looks like there is a "guide" cord for the window blind in Richard's picture of the rear window. I can not tell if there are such guide cords/strings in John's fordor pictures. It looks like they could be there. I had found a remnant of a "mostly red" cord in my car. It could have been a guide cord remnant that I thought was part of an assist strap.
Craig I will check the distances between screw holes to see if I have a match with yours. JP
Jack,
All the shades had guide cords. Quarter & Rear Windows.
Regards, John
This is the guide cord we used and is fairly close to what would have used. About 1/10 to 1/8 of and inch in diameter.
John: That cord looks a lot like the remnant I found. I did not know that the blinds had guide cords. Thanks to all for the help.
Seems like my guide strings came with the shade I ordered.
