Yesterday I started a new thread to show the progress I had made on my speedster project after a two year break due to a tragic family illness. I spent a considerable amount of time posting it(especially getting all the pictures down to a file size the system would finally permit).

I was looking forward to some great advice and encouragement as I see when others share their restorations or builds. Thus far it's gone all but ignored except for two kind members yesterday.

Today I was prepared to bring the project up to date with more photos and copy but it appears I may be wasting my time due to a lack of interest.

If you are interested please see: Sept. 18, FAULTLESS SPEEDSTER PROGRESS PART 1

I know it's not the Build of the Century but it was my first attempt at a speedster T and I was hoping for some useful feedback. I fear in a day or two the thread will be buried and lost. Based on the dead air from the latest group of pics and text I put up last night, I don't think I'm going to bother with a part II.

So here's possibly the last picture I'll post of the thing and how it looked a few days ago.

Maybe I picked a bad week to start the thread or everybody is at some great swap meets. Still, I'm a little disappointed guys- Jimmy

Jimmy, I'm jealous, I always wanted one. I love the boat tail. I missed the original thread, but would like to keep seeing your progress. Is the body a one seater? What's the body's frame made of? Is it a steel body, aluminum, or? Great project!

James,

I think after you post more info, people will start getting "invested" in your progress. I believe the tone of your first post gave us the impression that we should sit back and wait for more of your reports, rather than respond.

Jimmy,

Please continue the thread. I probably enjoy the build threads more than most of the others, especially when folks show how they solved the issues that arise as the work progresses. I don't know that I'd have much advice to offer as I chose a different approach to things but I do like to read and follow along.

We have a Faultless that is slightly different. They changed over the years and later sold to a company called Bull Dog. Ours has a Whippet Radiator shell but Faultless sold it as a Fiat style shell. The bottom picture in black and white is a factory photo from Faultless. Some had a flat cowl and some had a rounded one. Yours is rather flat at the windshield. Some were low and flat behind the seat, some were curved and some almost came up to a peak. Later ones had a cowl vent leading to the gas cap because the tanks on 26 27 models had the tank under the cowl for gravity feed.

Please keep posting progress, some of us are old and also therefore rather slow to respond.

Don't know anything about speedsters. I think it's great to see how some one can take something that no one has parts for and make it a running ,driving car once again. I am really new to the hobbie so I can't comment much. Keep with the project. I know that when you get to drive it and show it to people that the looks alone will be worth the effort. I wish my project looked as cool.
Have a good one and keep wrenching,
Mark

James

Don't bail out on the posts :-)

I like your build too, started years back to make this Faultless copy, but lost interest.

So, instead of going on, sold off the chassis, and then sold the unfinished body in primer to a racer guy who did this to it! Now would like it back!

So keep up your thread....might get by interest back :-)

Jimmy - Don't be disappointed in the lack of "attaboy" postings. I read the first posting and enjoyed it, but don't often give a "good job" feedback.

I must admit I enjoyed the narrative on how you did it. I once thought why didn't you do the body in aluminum rather than 22 ga. steel. Aluminum might be easier to work with and certainly is lighter.

Please keep posting your progress. I'm looking forward to seeing the finished product. And, yes, you're doing a great job!

Keith

Jimmy,

Please continue posting! I love the faultless body style you are going with. I would love to know the dimensions for this body (it's a two person/seater body right?) I am intrigued with your build because it is exactly the kind of work i'm preparing for this summer when I get back from college. I will definitely reference these post for help.

Jim keep us posted. If you need advice just ask as there is no shortage of opinions around here. It is a neat car and I would love to see how it progresses along.

Thats a great looking speedster. What kind of speed parts are going on the engine?

I found the earlier post and am even more impressed that you're doing it on such a low budget. All I can say is WOW!

Nothing like a sleek racer from the turn of the century! Nice job!

Wow! I'm glad for all the response. I guess I should have waited for more readers to catch up with me.

Frank Harris: That is fantastic! I love that style and hope to build another version similar to that in 'single seater' form next.

Matt, Yes this is a wide body 2 seater. The single seater usually has the hand brake on the outside.

Dan Treace, What a nice start you had there. QUESTION, How did you manage the gas filler dead center where the spine normally runs? I like that!

FYI: How about this crazy looking thing I dragged out of a storage barn in Ohio this June? It has already made several donations to the speedster project and I'm considering those snappy oval accessory head lights and some of the rare period gauges too.

I was looking forward to your posting of pictures.
I too am slow to comment of others' projects but I read every post and look at every picture, especially when it involves a speedster.

Keep posting! Much more interesting then all that talk about water pumps and oil types. I always look and admire, but rarely comment.

Jimmy, Your work is an inspiration! Faultless for sure. Nicole should be proud to have such a talented dad. Keep the pictures and dialog coming. More importantly, let Nicole know how much we are pulling for her healthy recovery!
