Hers is the new cast brass exhaust pack nut, we are starting the run of these right now, these are cast like the original in brass, look for them coming soon, Bob
A thing of beauty. I'd buy one.
Bob, what properties do these pack nuts have that makes them better than what we normally get?
They are cast out of brass, like original, not made from bar stock, and the price will be lower that the ones on the market now, thanks Bob
Thanks Bob. We need a good cast brass pack nut. Some of these reproductions are terrible! If they are as original, I'll buy several.
Me too
Getting pricing on the threads then we will know how long before production, Bob
Now if there was just a way to fix the old threads on the exhaust manifold we'd be all set.
And the threads of those repop nickel hubcaps ! They're terrible ..
I am pleased you are doing this. We are so lucky people are going to the trouble to reproduce things like this. No matter what they cost, nobody is making much money on them and there is a limited number that will be sold.
Thanks
Rich
Rick, the way I solved the bad threads on the manifold for my '12 is to saw cut one side of a new nut then wrap a s/s quality hose clamp around it. Formed it to the nut and tightened it just enough so it didn't slip the threads. When I had the exhaust pipe pulled up tight I snugged up the clamp and it has been perfect now for years. Good thing to retighten it after it gets hot also.
Robert ...
Looks like you will have a great product there! As Rick mentioned ... now that you have the form .... is it possible/cost effective, to have a thread chasing (or cutting) tool that would clean up an old head?
Just making a couple notches in the threads, perpendicular to them would probably work, but the nut would need to be out of something harder than the manifold.
I have the die here for cleaning up threads on the manifold, Bob
