The Hidden Valley Club held a tour to the last working ranch in the coastal region of San Diego County. We had seven cars on the tour, six brass and one black radiator. The ranch was Homestead in 1899 and the present owners grandfather bought the two adjacent ranches to grow to 420 acres in the 1920's. Most of the wagons are still on the ranch including an 1890's Studebaker and an unnamed single horse buggy. All the buildings are made of redwood, I wonder if it was grown in San Diego or imported? He has a Model 1924 T, not the 1918 his grandad owned but a nice original car.
After the ranch, we had lunch and then climbed a local hill for a view from Palomar to the ocean, San Diego to Orange county.

Very cool. I can honestly say that I have never seen a Studebaker wagon. Thanks Tony.

Redwood was logged on the northern California coast and shipped south as a common building lumber during this era. Furthest south that it grows naturally is Big Sur south of Montery.

Tony, I lived in Fallbrook more than 15 years but have ties that go further back and I was wondering what the owner and the ranch's name was.
