We had a little tranny trouble with the Model K. High would start slipping and I was out of adjustment. Called Dean, and he said no problem, I'll be right over. (he lives 6 hours away)

We started about 3:00 pm yesterday, and were "cruising" down the highway by 2:00 this afternoon! How's that for quick service?

Thanks Dean! I was afraid the K wouldn't make Hershey, but we're back on schedule.

Wow -- A mechanic who makes house calls!

Dean seems to be all smiles when he's around that K. I think he likes working on it. :-)

What a piece of History and I get to work on it.
I got home about 7:30.

Dean,

I can't thank you enough. My girls enjoyed meeting you (both girls say they will get the "K", so are grateful to whoever keeps it going). Hope you didn't mind the basement "apartment".

Rob

HOPE YOU CHECKED THE DISCS BETWEEN THE DRUMS FOR WEAR or BURN. CAN ALSO CAUSE SLIP

Bob,

Yes, the discs are OK. The small retainer Allen screw worked lose, allowing the nut in the back of transmission was working loose. Every time I would tighten the high speed adjustment, it would work OK until the back nut (inside the transmission) would back off, allowing high to slip again.

Hopefully a little lock tight has taken care of the problem.

Rob

Whew.....I sure am pleased to read that your problem was only a loose nut in the transmission. When I first learned of the matter I was afraid that it was attributable to a loose nut behind the steering wheel. If that had been the case, the solution would have been much more challenging.

Also...I think I have my carburetor problem behind me.....and with your transmission once again functional....it appears that the "K" race at Hershey is back on the agenda.

Cheers,

Timothy
