Went out driving this morning with a friend who has a 1924 Hudson super-six. Dad a blast, I think my neighbors are starting to think it's becoming the 1920's all over again. Here are a couple of pictures I took in his back yard.
Both are real nice looking cars. I always wanted to go on a tour with teens and 20s cars other than Ts. I really enjoy all makes of old cars. I'm sure you had a good time.
Nice nice cars, Joe. I got my T out today too. Carol wasn't able to join me so I went alone to have breakfast. Seems like I got more interest and questions from the high school guys in the parking lot than I did from older-type folk. It was fun.
And I'm with you Mike. I love al the old antique cars and would never turn a one of them down if it came along at the right price.
Joe,
Thanks for sharing the pics from today. I too had some time to wander around a little while today in the T.
Just below us on Burrows Bay is TugBoat Park and Skyline Marina in the background. I stopped long enough to snap a pic on a gorgeous fall day.
Next I stopped in downtown to take pic where the original Ford Service station was located at the turn of the last century.
And finally, I climbed Mt. Erie for a most stupendous lookout over Campbell Lake (freshwater)with an island in the foreground, and a few of the islands in the San Juan Islands Archipeligo (saltwater). Whidbey Island home of F/A-18 Growlers and A-6 Prowlers at the NAS is off to the right !!
I luvs my grubby T's but I bet that Hudson would be hoot to drive!.......
GReat pics, Wayne! Love the coupe.
I really am starting to like the Hudson. Always been a 3P man myself (Packard, Peerless, Pierce-Arrow). It is a large car, 126in wheelbase. He had a 1917 Model T that he sold when he purchased the Hudson. Hard to tell if I will ever leave the 'Ford' class behind.
Great looking coupe Wayne. I am thinking a coupe or roadster would make a great second model T.
I have no pictures from today, but Niels from Hillerød, (1926 Touring) visited me this morning to hand back some tools and coils he had borrowed so I had two Model T's in the driveway.
And yeah - my neighbors shurely sometimes think we are back in the 20's when I have the driveway full of Model T's.
Wayne,
If I (and or Google Earth) am correct, the photo of your coupe is outside a building on 3rd and Commercial.
The caption under the old photo of the Ford agency of Knapp & Ronneberger says that they were in 6th St.
Do you know if the Street names have been changed ?
Could we get a hint on what part of the world Campbell Lake and Mt. Erie are in?
Aaron,
Anacortes WA,
Pacific Coast, up by the border.
Impromptu run to Carbonado after a miserable Seahawks showing Sunday.
Gavin,
Good on ya mate !! You have a sharp eye. Inspector material. Anacortes still has a 6th street 3 blocks south. The touristas had the street parking full of modern vehicles, and it was not conducive to setting a scene for a pic reminiscent of the turn of the century photo. The Ford Dealer buildings are long gone and replaced with a large brick building that takes up the whole corner, but on 3rd the buildng footprint is more "like" the old timey buildings. I think it offered a better contrast in close proximity to the original photo. A lot happens in 100yrs.
Aaron,
Please don't tell anyone about Anacortes, located on Fidalgo Island, they may think it is the best place to retire and drive their T's. Mt. Erie is part of the city owned forest lands. Mountain bikers and hikers love the challenge of the climb. Model T's like it too, but be prepared for band burning ride down the hill. The Deception Pass bridge between Fidalgo and Whidbey Islands is sometimes referred to as the 8th Wonder.

It rains ALL the time in Washington.
You don't want to move here.
Wayne...are you going to the Monroe swap meet this weekend?
I once was stuck in a boat on treacherous tide near the mouth of Deception Pass. Motor died and we had a hell of a time getting it started again. I grew up on the ocean but that was one experience on water I never wish to duplicate again.
I was going through Deception Pass in my 17 ft boat and a whirlpool showed up real close.
I thought it was going to suck us down.
Scared the hell out of me.
Never messed around there again except on a slack tide.
Wayne,
So, was the Knapp & Ronneberger building on the corner of 6th (which hasn't moved)& Commercial ?
This was one of several I saw 3 years ago in downtown Anacortes.
thanks Ricks
Nice to see folks out enjoying the good weather
I will be driving the ' White Pole Road ' today
in Iowa, right along I-80 ...
Jim
Gavin,
The pic of the Ford Dealer (Knapp & Ronnenberger) came from the Anacortes library and is printed in a history book about Anacortes by local historian Bret Lunsford. While I cannot vouch for the accuracy of the caption under the pic, I'm only guessing that it is accurate, and the Ford Dealer was located on 6th & Commercial and not 3rd and Commercial where I snapped my pic with the Coupay !! Hope that helps clarify !!!????
Bob,
I will not be at the Monroe Swap meet this weekend.
Thanks Danial and Joe for the compliments.
Take care gents-
W
Thanks Wayne,
Although not actively searching for this sort of info, I am saving photos etc of Ford sites as they come to hand. I am also marking the sites on Google Earth. I may (or may not) do something with the info one day but in the meantime, when the info is available I grab it.
