I went to the San Bernardino, CA, swap meet held by the Paradise Valley Model A club (more T parts than you would think) and came upon the usual things.
But this really caught my eye:
It could have been mine for $175...
Should have said hello, I'm still here with my T parts....
I was a glass and bottle collector for 20 years. Bought, sold and viewed hundreds of thousands... NEVER asw that one.
I would have been hard-pressed to pass it up in my bottle collecting days even before I owned my Model T.
I bet the guy would have shaved at least a quarter ($25) off that too.
Just did a check of eBay. Looks like two sold in the past 90 days - one for $113 and the other for $125.
I would have taken that to be worth more...and maybe at one time it was. A lot of colelctibles dropped in value with the advent of eBay.
When I first started collecting Ford Memorabilia 20+ years ago I saw a few of these being offered for sale in the $50-75 range. I didn't know much about them but a couple did appear to be fakes. The average person would be surprised at the number of Ford items which are faked on a regular basis. This bottle looks legitimate and would have probably followed me home if I was there. One can never have too much Ford Memorabilia.
Ford also sold women's cosmetics under the Highland Rose brand name.
This and other products sold under the Ford label were sold at Ford owned commissaries. Everything from Stetson Hats to fine steaks could be bought at prices lower than the normal neighborhood shops. The shopowners pissed & moaned about it so much Ford closed their commissary at the Highland Park plant.
