Ok,I took apart both of my TT wheels.Spokes are out,the outer rim they fit into is sandblasted and ready to sand and prime and paint.
I had them painted silver, but had to tape up each spoke.
Are they supposed to be black or silver?
I would like to find out because I am wanting to work on this project some more.I bought a small pressure pot blaster and I think I got more sand on me than hit the wheels and rims I did.But Now that I took a shower, and got on clean clothes I feel a bit better.Sandblasting is a filthy job.,

Mack,
The spokes and felloes would have been black. The actual rims themselves would have been plated with something. Zinc or Cadmium or something like that, I think. Silver paint is close enough for most folks.
Ok,so the part the spoke inserts into is black?Good, that makes the job alot easyer!Do a little hammering and such and paint it black. Then insert spokes.
Thanks Hal!
By the way,how is that old power hack saw comeing along? I aint did anything with the mower or tractor yet.Cant find parts for the tractor to make it complete yet.
You could go with Oklahoma chrome on the snap ring, but I think black all the way looks OK.
Thanks folkes. That is what I needed to know.I will keep the rim portion silver but now that I relize the "fellow" is the metal peice I am talking about,I aint near as confused as I was.
I tell ye,someone had over tightened a couple of the bolts holding the rim on and it bent the felloe, that is some hard metal to straighten with a hammer.I may have to warm it a bit to get it back straight. It aint that bad and they were working on the truck. But since I have new spokes,I decided to fix a nice set of wheels for the truck.
I have some 21 inch demountable type wheels that the local club president said werent T but they have T front hubs that I am going to fix for the front.I want to fix the truck up a bit more for next show season. It is getting alot of attention and drawing questions alot more as I take it places.
Here is an example of spray painting the demountable rim from a can (aluminum color paint). They are not plated, but look good. We'll see how the paint holds up over time...about two years old so far.
Thanks!
I don't know if you can get it anymore but ORLAC Brand spray paint in a can "Dull Aluminum" is what I have used on other cars rims. Goes on nice and was easy to clean.
It's ORR-LAC, I knew there was a double letter in there....

Well waiting on paint to dry.
Hub Bolts thru the spokes, they look ok to me with plenty to peen over when reinstalled.Should be ok right?
Also, does anyone know the drill bit size so I can get a new 1 at the hard ware? Still gota fab the press.I did make sure my threaded rod would work today.1 inch fine thread. The 4 nuts i bought cost more than I paid for the rod at a antique store flea market place.I think I paid 12 for the rod ,everywhere I looked it was around 45.But the nuts cost me 24$.
