That is perfect Hershey weather!!!
Weeeeeeee!
its my first time!!! soooooo excited!!!! :D
I hope it's nice......First time to Hershey and I just bought my first Model T and need to get a few things.
I've been going for 20 years.
You shouldn't be able to sleep at night.
Yes, it's that good.
Is there any use in going on saturday, or is everything gone by then? l can only get there on that day.
About 75% of the vendors have already packed up before Sat. morning and only the stragglers are still there. The entire area has to be cleared out by Sat. evening - I think by 5pm, but not sure.
BUT, Sat. morning is the big show with over 1,000 cars on display. It's always fun to go and watch the show cars being driven up to and into the show grounds. It's not often you get to hear them run. Some sputter and pop, and others are so quiet that you can't hear anything.
If you just want to go for the swap meet, I'd say forget it. But if you'd like to see the show, by all means go and get there early. The time for the show cars to be driven onto the grounds is 7 to 10am according to the 2011 Hershey booklet.

Keith,
This is my third trip, but first time staying through Saturday. If the "old car gods" are willing, I'll drive the K on the field Saturday. We're on the Red field, spaces RSW 10-11. That is about four rows south of the Restoration Supply Company tent.
I'm hopeful Timothy Kelly will have his K there. We'll also have our Model N along. For anyone interested in pre - T Fords, Carl Pate's spaces are nearby, and I believe he will have his Ford Models A and F.
Rob
Hi Rob - I'll make it a point to get to your space & see you. Will you be staying close to your space most of the time, or do you plan to wander around to the other 8,998 spaces too?
This is my 9th time. We stay in the Hershey Highlands campground and will be there from Sunday to Sunday since they make us pay for 7 days anyway.
We're at space #1 if you happen to be in the campground.
Keith
Looks like I will miss this year, only about the 3rd missed since 1979. Stuff happens. Yous guys have fun! Dan.
Is there a coffee shop close to the flea market? Its a hard start without my caffeine in the morning
Will
It's not a Flea Market, it's a Swap Meet. LOL
I stand corrected......... About the coffee shop?
Keith,
I'll be around as much as possible. Looking for a few tidbits, and it's always good to see all the cars there. If anyone wants it, my cell is 402-643-0235.
Also close to us will be a newly restored Ford N, so there will be at least 6 pre-T Fords within 20 yards of me. See you there,
Rob
So is a Saturday only trip worth a 4 hour drive from NY? I was planning on getting to Hershey early before the park opens....any thoughts?
Thanks, Rob. Hershey should be good this year. The forecast is cool, but no rain. I remember when it was all mud. They pulled the vendors into their spaces and pulled them out when it was over. Yuck. I for one am thankful that it's all paved now.
Keith
Rob:
Please post a schedule of when you will be out shopping. While you're away, I'll shop for Model K parts at your teepee......as I can't think of a better source..... Plus, all your parts are clean, restored and ready to use....which is how I like to find them.
Cheers,
Timothy
John,
We've driven 11 hours (all night Friday) just to see the show on Saturday. Did that 2-3 times when we didn't have any vacation days to take and only enough money for one night in a hotel. Slept real good Saturday night and drove home on Sunday.
Here's what you need to know:
Tuesday - flea market setup, load in, etc.
Wednesday-Friday - wheeling and dealing in the flea market and "car corral"
Saturday - most flea market people will pack up and head out early. Out of an entire row, 20% of the spaces may still be selling something. These are usually guys that have either huge amounts of stuff, or things that they don't want to haul back home. The best deals happen on Saturday, if you're lucky enough to come across something you're interested in. Most people head to the show car area, which is otherwise empty all week. The cars must drive on under their own power, which means no trailers. This is the best chance to see rare cars, big trucks, motorcycles, you name it actually being driven! The road leading into the show field is lined with people. Come early, get a good spot. You will not be disappointed.
From what i have heard from my pops, a 25 year veteran, there are coffee vendors available
Dan,,, Iv been told its not a flea market,,, Its a swap meet.... LOL
No ones ever swapped a thing with me, besides cash! Haha!
Will
If your anywhere near Chocolate Field North
C4F 19-22 I'll be happy to provide a coffee fix and I know where your coming from since I tend to be a little grumpy before my am fix. I've got me one of those Kureg fancy schmancie single cup coffee makers and it only takes a few minutes. Stop by if you in the neighborhood
